Hi Guys,
?
I havnt posted in a while…..because for the most part my bottom has significantly improved. ?I originally had gout in both knees, foot, ankle, neck, shoulder, wrist, elbow. ?Tons of places. ?Bed-ridden with a cup to pee in next to my bed for weeks. ?Horrible existance as many of you had experienced. ?
?
After 7 months on 300 AP, Virtually all symptoms are gone with the exception of my left knee. ?My left knee has not been without swelling for more than a day or 2 since last may. ?And recently (probably due to my ability to be more active) it swells up significantly every 2-3 weeks..wiht loss of range of motion and inability to walk wihtout a limp. ?The only cure once it gets to this point has been a medral prednisone pack (which takes the swelling away within days).
?
I had an MRI done, and nothing significant is confirmed. ?Showes minor internal derangement, and OS seems to think that the symptoms (not MRI) support a meniscus tear.?
?
He wants to do orthescopic surgery and “explore and repair” where applicable. Hres the facts:
Its been 7 months, on AP, all my other symptoms are gone with the exeption of the l knee
My rheumatologist originally felt it was only gout, but now feels “the gout is probably being aggravated by an internal injury”.
Even when both knees were swelling up from the gout, the l knee was always much more significant
No fall/twist/etc to support an injury.
?
I was originally against the surgery, but am thinking about going forward with it to try and get my life back, i know i cant keep running to the prednisone pack. ?And yes i have been on colchocine in the past, and although this seems to lesson the severity of the attacks, the L knee never recovers without prednisone.
?
Thanks for your help

Knees are far more prone to swelling and 'other' pain triggers, for me -and 'real' gout has stayed below them[ ie:no red inflamed surfaces and more relative swelling for the amount of pain & not so localised.]?Good luck!
